Students used warm and cool watercolors to create a background. After they used chalk pastels to make the Northern Lights. They turned out amazing! We posted their art work in the gym for the Winter Concert.

The students have been learning about the season Fall. We talked about how we can use our five senses to describe what Fall looks like, feels like, smells like, tastes like and sounds like. The students used adjectives in their sentences and did a beautiful job drawing their pictures.

October: Leaf Pattern Art With Crayons and Watercolors
Students have been learning about a variety of different patterns. They designed their own fall leaf and used crayons to create a variety of patterns. After they outlined their lines with a black pencil crayon to make it stand out. The final step was to use a variety of watercolor paints and sponge to create their background.

September: Van Gogh Sunflowers
The students studied the artist Vincent Van Gogh and his artwork. They read the story Camille and the Sunflowers. The students were able to create a giant sunflower where they were shown how to blend colors using crayons. The students had to choose a cool colour for their background to make their sunflower “pop” in their piece of artwork.
