Tell us about the process of building your WikiSeat. Some particular questions you could answer are:
- What does creating your WikiSeat mean to you?
- What do you think your WikiSeat will mean to the person you give it to?
- What difficulties did you experiece thus far in creating your WikiSeat?
On my drawing I drew the catalyst and the wood the middle. After I put a ball to sit and bounce and 3 frisbees with different features. and an extra pillow and net to lean.
First building my prototype it was pretty easy, but when I hit the shopping part it was not afford able. So now I am building only 2 pieces instead of 8. I also messed up and made extra holes therefore I need to put stickers.
The process was really hard because the wood in my back yard was short so i decided to get the tubes that were under my deck.Making the wikiseat was hard because i had to tape it because the drill would not work.

The process of working on the prototype was that first I put together the coffee sticks and
the catalyst too. For the seat I used coffee stirrers and stuck them together by using tape. My plan for building the WikiSeat is similar but the sketch of my WikiSeat was different. I had planned to make the WikiSeat by using some fabric with a hole so that the plant could get sunlight. But instead I did not do it because of the materials that couldn't be found.
To me my WikiSeat means that since it would help someone else that they can use it and that it would help them solve their problem. The WikiSeat will mean a lot to the person I give it to because that person has back problems. It will solve that person's problem because that person will be able to rest peacefully on the WikiSeat. That person is my grandpa because is back has some problems. The difficulties I faced thus far was that my WikiSeat had not been measured properly so the seat did not fit properly. So I had to undo it and do the measurements again. Finally I got the right measurements and built my WikiSeat again.

Creating my WikiSeat means to me that we are making this for a person who really needs it (like if they can't stand properly cause they have a leg problem. Also, I think the person I give to will mean to them that the person who gave me it cares about me.
The difficulties I had creating my WikiSeat was that when I had to screw in all the holes. Also, when I had to make stand up properly so I can put the catalyst on.
In the process, first i screwed the wood to the catalyst. Then i screwed the other piece of wood but upside down by accident. So i unscrewed it and put it back the right way. after i was done i thought not to put wheels because the person sitting on the seat might slip.
It's very fun to do this project because you get to make a chair and we are the first class do this in our Calgary,Alberta. Another thing the Wikiseat project means to me is that you have to give it to someone and that will be very nice to the person. They will think that you being very kind to the person your going to give it to. They would also think you are also trying to make them happy what is also the whole reason about this project to solve someone's problem. Some of the problems while planning it out where trying to plan out how it will look and how to build it.
At the beginning of the making of the wikiseat project I was thinking of making an alarm clock stool so I can put a alarm clock on it. Then I was thinking how we need a chair in the living room and for books. I was thinking of giving the wikiseat to my aunt but then I starting thinking that it should be in the basement because we play there a lot and we a can pretend that the chair is the chair of smarts/books. When I was creating my wikiseat it means to me is that I'm making something that will make someone happy and it's doing something that is caring because your making a seat for someone in your family or your friends get it. Well really anyone will get the seat. The difficulties I have faced was trying to find wood for my legs of the wikiseat because the wood is super thick.
I think making a wikiseat is fun and hard because you need to make it for someone and at least something that can at least stay for 1year so it can help or for the reast of there reast of there life. The wikiseat helps alot for reasons. I am giving my wikiseat to my baby cousin she is learning to sit on a chair so I am making a small chair for her so it will be easy for her.
I changed my plan for my WikiSeat because me and my mother went to Rona to look for metal. I couldn't find any metal so I bought wood instead. I saw another grade 5 student at Rona. He bought wood too. I bought the same wood as him.
I want to give this WikiSeat to my mom because she works a lot so I want her to rest while cooking. Then she will get her rest and also get her cooking done. That way I will be happy and my mother will be happy.

When i started to make my wiki seat It was really hard because i had to find 3 hockey sticks because one of them was somewhere in the house and the other 2 are in the closet. The wheels and seat where also hard to find.
When I started to make my prototype, I was confused for what to make the hockey sticks out of so i asked my teacher and he told me to make it out of popsicle sticks. so then I stuck them together. Then I got beads for wheels and coffe stirres and duck tape for the seat.
When I started to make my real seat it was hard to measure the sticks and make them to the right hight. then I stuck it to the catalyst so next time im probably gonna stick the seat on and put on the wheels.
I am going to give my wiki seat to someone that has toys and don't wanna sort them so they can put there toys on it. The difficulties where putting the legs on because when I was going to test the seat on it didn't fit so I had to take the legs off and off. My wiki seat repents who doesn't want to clean there toys or it's for a plant.
My process of building my WikiSeat is going pretty well.My structure is going very well it is going by plan and is turning out to be a success.I am making my WikiSeat to show my brother not to give up on his reading or homework.
First I made 2 drawings, one failed but the other one did not so I used that idea. The prototype's base was made out of lego and the legs were made out of coffee stirrers. The hard part was to make a catalyst for the prototype. now I am trying. The person I am giving my seat to is to 3 people but I can't decided. In addition, I know one man who lives on the streets. The second person is my dad, he damaged his kidney and lever so he has to drink lemon water. So I thought that he can drink lemon water whenever he wakes up, he just has to pick up the glass. Last but not least, the third person is a orphan kid.
I was going to give this to my brother. but now to my grandpa because he need a table to put his stuff on. that is i am going to give it to him
The process of building my WikiSeat was difficult because the wood I used was hard also when I tried to put the screws in they kept on falling out that was the hardest part. The Wikiseat meant to will make my sister very thankful. When I will give it to my sister she will feel happy and honored.

I will give my seat to my brother because his room is super empty and he gets mad that he doesn't have anything in his room. So I will make a chair for him. He can use it as a stool, a table, and a chair. I think My brother will be very happy when I give him this chair.I think my brother will also be very thankful.
Creating my WikiSeat means to me that I get to help people who needs help by making a seat for them. I am creating this seat for my cousin for her to sit down and do her homework. Whenever she is doing her homework, she doesn't have to sit on the floor all the time. She can just sit on the WikiSeat.
I experienced many difficulties in this project. One of the difficulties are that while marking, it was hard to hold the wood and catalyst together. Another one is screw driving the nail sideways. It was also sort of hard to put the wood onto the catalyst.
Creating the Wikiseat means a lot to me. We are the first class to do it in Calgary. It is really spectacular that grade 5 students get to make chairs. Working on the Wikiseat is really amusing and enjoyable.
I think when I give this Wikiseat to someone they will be heated to achieve something. They will spread this word to 2 people, then 4, 8, 16 and so on so fourth. Then all those people will be really passionate about it.
While building this chair I had many troublesome problems. For example, I had to maintain the height of the wood when I screwed in the wood, if I didn't the seat would be slanted. Consequently, if you sat on it you would slip off. So I had to unscrew it plentiful times. In addition, it was really hard to screw the screws into a sold piece of wood without pilot holes.
At the beginning of project I thought that I'd have a nice back rest but I realized it's too hard. I found this out when making my prototype since it kept on breaking my seat and it was just not working.
This help me feel nice again because I'm was thinking that I started to feel as if i became really mean. Giving a chair that is very hard to make will make me feel good as a person. If I put alot of effort and tell the person I worked hard so they'll feel speical about getting the wikiseat.
This will make the person feel appriecated since a little girl gave them a nice chair, I hope when I give my wikiseat that they will enjoy their gift a lot!
Creating my WikiSeat means that I can help people that are tired or poor that have no homes I will give this wiki seat to my cousin and my mom when they are tired.
The experience that are difficult are the time that I was making the mark for the legs.
And to find the seat for the top because I have nothing at home for a seat.
When I was drawing my wikiseat I thought the prototype will be fine but it was not. I could not make the back board. I thought then that when I make the real deal I also thought I could just take a piece of wood and put it on the back but it did not work. Another problem that I had was when I put the seat on it was not straight. It was falling one side and one piece of the wood was not in its place so that is what caused some of the problems. Also the base was going to spin but the spinning thing was to small so it could not spin.
The first step is to get the materials then you will have to get 2x2 wood and a base for the top and a catalyst then you will have to screw the wood in and then you will have to make the angles and then you will have to do the same to the top then you unscrew it and then you give to the teacher to cut it then you will have to screw it again then do it very tight and then you can screw the base on and the you are done your Wikiseat
-Grade 5 student
The creating the WikiSeat means to me is when your bored, you can sit on this stool and ply games because 1. It's comfy 2. It's high and 3. You can just keep it in one spot so you don't need to find a chair or sit on the ground if you can't find a chair or if you need a high stool you can use this stool.
The difficulty I experience is bring the wrong type of wood. I brought three 2x2 pieces of wood instead of 4x4 pieces of wood.
Well me and my partner started with his first but in between some of his steps we did mine in between. First me and my partner put my legs together with the catalyst and then put the seat on top. I was trying to see if the catalyst is in the right position so my seat can fit on the top. Then my partner and I measured the length of my legs and see if we needed to cut them to make it short. We found that we needed to so we made lines and cut it there. Then we made our tool with a pencil and a spare wood block and we made our lines. It was harder for me because my wood was round so we had to make the lines all around the wood. When that was done we cut it and we were going to put pilot holes in. I asked my teacher how we do that. That is the stage I'm on and also we are this low because me and my partner Jaspreet worked on his more since it was easier. We finished his and now we are working on mine. In the future I'm guessing that one of our difficulties will be attaching my seat on my legs.
